Maki Tamaru talks about "beauty and health" and a way of life
At Lypo-C, April 4th (Sea Sea) is commemorating “Vitamin C Day” and is holding a “Well-being-Meet your ideal self-” contest.
Actress and model Maki Tamaru is participating as a special judge.
This time we will deliver a special interview commemorating it!
Maki Tamaru leads a beautiful and healthy lifestyle.
We asked her about "beauty and health" in her 20s when she was a top model, 30s when she experienced childbirth, and now in her 40s.
Maki Tamaru
Actress, model. Active in commercials and fashion magazines as a top model since her teens. Debuted as an actress in 2003. In addition to dramas, magazines, and program MCs, he is also active in a wide range of fields, such as collaborating with fashion brands. Married in 2012. Mother of 2 children.
20s who ran through, 30s who felt sick
─We will ask Mr. Tamaru to look back on his “health history” from the past to the present. How was your 20s and 30s?
I'm very conscious of my health now, but in my 20s I managed to get by with just energy, so I didn't pay much attention to my health (laughs).
I was really busy with work in my 20s, but maybe because my metabolism was good, it didn't bother me at all.
I think I changed my mind when I was 32.
─ After running through your twenties, you begin to feel a little discomfort in your thirties.
It's not like I'm sick, but it's a small daily thing, such as getting tired and having trouble falling asleep.
It feels like the correction came in my 30s because I was pushing myself in my 20s.
From there, I decided to start doing exercise properly, and started Kaatsu training, muscle training, and yoga.
─You have had two babies in your 30s. Did you notice any major changes?
You've changed a lot!
There was a change in my way of thinking when I gave birth to my first child and when I gave birth to my second child. Especially in the second session, it took me a long time to get back in shape, and on top of that, I was busy every day...it was really hard.
I imagined it to some extent, but after all parenting is hard ...!
No matter how hard you try, there is no end in sight, and there is no way out.
I don't know how many times I woke up in the middle of the night when breastfeeding was hard.
"How long will it last..." I have cried many times in the middle of the night while giving milk.
On the other hand, it's every day that I feel "I'm happy" while raising a child.
For example, one of the hardest times of the day is in the morning, when getting the kids off to school is all I can do.
After finishing the morning's slapstick, I take a breather, and even though it must have been so hard just now, I already feel lonely.
And during the day, I spend all my time thinking about my child, thinking, "Is it time for my older child to have lunch now?"
And in the evening, I feel really happy when I see the smiles of the children who came home.
It's hard with two boys, but when they grow up a little more, the unpleasant period will come, and after that, when they grow up, the day will come when they will be worried about love in puberty... After that, they will get married. Or grandchildren?
I think I'll probably worry about it for the rest of my life (laughs).
Such a repetition of hard things and happy things every day.
Even in the midst of difficult times, I feel happy every day while being inspired by the children.
─While you are busy with childcare and work, do you have any way to refresh yourself?
I'm good at "escape".
As I became an adult, I realized that when I was forced to work or take care of my children, I simply escaped to what I liked.
Now I can't travel abroad or do physical things, so I can relax by distributing my attention to things I like, such as music and scents.
─ There must be a lot of people who are stressed out in a depressing world these days. If Mr. Tamaru gives advice?
It is recommended to write down what you like once!
In my head, there are things I like that are surprisingly vague, and when I write them out, they come out quite well.
I myself have tried many things, such as starting new dishes due to the coronavirus pandemic, growing greens in my garden, and so on.
When I was a child, my parents would tell me to keep going!
I love to experience everything, so I try things that I hear from people or that interest me.
─I would like to ask you about your current health in your 40s. Have you changed since your 30s?
When I was in my 20s and 30s, "health" was all about superficial things, like jumping on the latest trends.
When I turned 40, my attitude towards health changed dramatically. I would say that the degree of seriousness has increased, like "Health = Life! Life!" (laughs)
It's a big existence that can't be compared to people in their 20s and 30s.
─ Your consciousness has changed completely! What do you usually do for your health?
I pay particular attention to "exercise", "sleep" and "diet".
Exercise has become solid several times a week.
However, rather than making the rules strict, saying, "I'll definitely do it!"
Compared to when I was in my 30s, I feel that my exercise options have become more flexible.
For example, "Let's do Pilates today" or "I might be good at muscle training", so I try to flexibly change it while watching my condition.
The criterion for selection is "whether it is fun or not"
We live in an age where there are many options, not just when it comes to exercise.
Under such circumstances, my criteria for selection is "Is it fun for me?"
For example, when it comes to exercise, I find exercise with a fast rhythm to be more compatible, comfortable, and fun. Of course, some people do the opposite.
Even with popular exercise and beauty methods, there are times when "it suits some people, but it doesn't suit me."
I'm not the type to study and deepen my knowledge little by little, but I'm the type to suddenly experience things and get into it (laughs).
There are times when I am devastated, but it will be a good experience in its own way.
Experiment with everything and see what works for you.
Shouldn't we just continue doing things that are fun and agreeable? I think.
─Is there anything you pay attention to when it comes to food?
Since I turned 40, I have become more selective about food.
I usually think of a well-balanced menu, and supplement what I lack with supplements. What they all have in common is to choose the best quality, safe and secure products.
but within a stress-free range.
For example, I sometimes go out to eat hamburgers with my kids, and on weekends I enjoy eating snacks and watching movies.
If you only think about your health, it would be better to eat nuts or dried fruits, but if you do that every time, life will be boring.
I usually pay attention to the balance as much as possible, but when I pull it out, I pull it out. Enjoy when you enjoy.
I try not to be too stoic when it comes to exercise and diet.
─ You mentioned supplements, but Mr. Tamaru is a regular drinker of Lypo-C. What was the first opportunity to know?
There are many people around me who are highly conscious of health and beauty because of their work.
Lypo-C was recommended by someone I trust, saying, "This is great!"
Did you buy it online first?
It was great to try! Since then, I have been taking one packet every day without fail.
I'm used to it now, but at first the impact of the taste was amazing (laughs)
But for that reason, I feel that it is very effective!
I believe that a healthy body is directly connected to the “mind”.
Being healthy is my base and everyday life. For me, Lypo-C is something that raises the bar for everyday life.
- About health in the future. What kind of 50s and 60s do you want to reach?
No matter how old I am, if I can always feel happy and comfortable, I think my life will be very rich.
Instead of feeling nostalgic about the past, saying, “My 20s were good,” I now have the joy and happiness of the present.
Of course, people in their 20s are beautiful, healthy and sparkling.
But I'm in my 40s now because I've had a lot of experiences, so when I'm in my 50s and 60s, I think it will feel even bigger. If you think so, I'm looking forward to it.
─In the currentcontest, you are participating as a special judge. Now, I would like to ask Mr. Tamaru about the theme of the contest, "what you want to be."
First of all, if Mr. Tamaru chooses from 3 C's?
*For the contest, you will be asked to choose a theme from the 3 "Cs"*
Colorful | Are you able to imagine a colorful future while valuing your individuality?
Challenge|Are you excited about the future and are you taking on challenges?
Create | Are you enjoying change and creating the future?
Well... I'm worried, but I choose "Create"!
With the big changes in my 20s and 30s, I am now in my 40s.
I'm sure the life ahead will live while changing.
Our daily lives and habits lead to a way of life, which in turn leads to the future. I chose it because I want to create my life in that way.
─What is the “ideal image of yourself” that Mr. Tamaru envisions?
Is it "live every day actively and sparklingly"?
I don't think that I'm in my 40s, or that I'm going to calm down more and more as I get older, into my 50s and 60s.
I want to keep moving forward while enjoying being active and sparkling every day! I think every day.
─Is there anything you do every day to get closer to that ideal?
As you get older, you will hit many walls.
In terms of health, when people in their 40s and above gather and talk, the number of topics that make them feel depressed, such as their health problems and menopause, increases.
But at times like that, I think it's best to keep it as dark as possible and shine a light on your good points.
There are many things I don't like about myself, but I accept them, saying, "Well, it can't be helped."
And when I find my good points, I work hard every day to improve them and step up. If you find your own light, isn't it easier to live in terms of thinking? I think.
I feel like it's kind of a waste if I don't stay energetic until just before I die.
Maybe life is one time, so I want to enjoy that one time.
Have fun running through life.
For me, it is the image that there is "health" for that.
