Completely different “what to expect from vitamin C” for men and women
SPIC Co., Ltd. named April 4th as"Vitamin C Day" (CC Day), and conducted a questionnaire on vitamin C to commemorate this.
Of the 12,731 men and women surveyed nationwide, about 1,000 were extracted from those who answered that they had purchased, drank, or ate vitamin C-containing supplements or health foods in the past year. As a secondary survey, we also conducted a questionnaire asking, "What do you expect from vitamin C?"
As a result, the most common responses among men were "for health," "recovery from fatigue, prevention," and "prevention of colds," while among women, "for skin (whitening, prevention of blemishes and freckles, and acne)" stood out. As a result, expectations for vitamin C differed greatly between men and women.
"Expectations for vitamin C: Men's number one is 'for health', women's number one is 'for skin'"
In the secondary survey (questionnaire), we asked the respondents to answer from the following options regarding the purpose of vitamin C intake (multiple answers allowed).

As a result of the questionnaire, Among all respondents, regardless of gender, the top answer was “For skin (whitening, prevention of blemishes/freckles, acne) (30.5%)”. This was followed by “for health (20.4%),” “prevention of colds (improvement of immunity) (18.7%),” and “recovery from fatigue, prevention (18.5%).”
“Vitamin C intake purpose (overall) top 4”
However, when this question is reaggregated by "gender", men answered "for health (27.4%)", "fatigue recovery and prevention (26.2%)", and "cold prevention (immunity improvement) (23.8%)". While each of the three answers ranked high at around 25%, the number of answers for “for the skin” was only 13.0%.
“Vitamin C intake purpose (male) top 4”
On the other hand, 44.5% of women responded that it was for “skin whitening, prevention of dark spots and freckles, and acne,” while the other three responses were “for health (14.8%).” The result was a large difference in “prevention of colds (improvement of immunity) (14.6%)” and “recovery from fatigue, prevention (13.6%)”.
"Vitamin C intake purpose (female) top 4"
Based on the above results, it was also confirmed from the awareness survey that men are oriented toward "physical strength and health" and women are oriented toward "beauty" as the purpose of taking vitamin C.
Expectations for vitamin C range from health to beauty. The breadth of its coverage is clear
