A baton relay series introducing Lypo-C to loved ones began in April. We asked chef Kim Na Rae, who is a Lypo-C drinker and appeared first on the series, "Who would you recommend Lypo-C to?" and she introduced us to cooking researcher Uematsu Yoshie. As she makes growing vegetables in her vegetable garden her life's work, she is well-known for her recipes that are in tune with the seasons. What is Uematsu's health and beauty lifestyle like?
For physical fitness and beauty
At an age when consciousness is growing
Yoshie Uematsu is always smiling and energetic, even though she is busy with work and raising her 6-year-old son. She has always loved traveling, and has been to many places, including India, Vietnam, and Northern Europe, where she has adapted the flavors of each country to make them easier to make at home.
"Since giving birth to my son and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my opportunities to travel have decreased significantly. Instead, I often go skiing or to the beach with my family. Maybe that's why people often tell me I'm active. But I gave birth after I turned 40, so I thought I had to build up my stamina for childcare! So I started Pilates about a year ago. It helps me get more exercise and refreshes me."
Even at home, he enjoys building up his physical strength by using a foam roller to loosen his muscles and doing Nordic walking when he has time.
"Now that I can do myofascial release myself, I no longer need to go to massage parlors. I started learning Nordic walking five years ago, and it seems to suit me better than jogging, so I've continued. I enjoy walking while looking at the scenery."
Chasing after my mischievous son is quite a physical challenge.
"My older friends often tell me that this suddenly starts to happen in your late 40s, when both your physical strength and beauty begin to decline. I'm starting to feel that this is true, but my mother is still incredibly beautiful and healthy in her 70s. Her skin is so smooth that my son even says, 'Grandma has such smooth skin.' My mother is actually a beauty fanatic who checks her skin every time she sees her, and she's been drinking royal jelly and using beauty devices since she was a child. When I think back to that, I realize that I really need to start taking good care of my skin now."
What to look for in supplements
Wake up refreshed
Just as I was becoming more beauty conscious, my fellow chef Nare recommended Lypo-C to me.
"I don't want to look younger, but I want to keep my skin moisturized and bright, appropriate for my age. I have quite strong skin, so I try out a lot of things I've heard are good, like argan oil. I first heard about Lypo-C when I heard about it from Nare-chan, but when I told my friends, they all knew about it (laughs). It's pretty famous."
Uematsu knew that vitamin C is water-soluble and will be washed away if you simply ingest it.
"I often use citrus fruits in my cooking, so I was optimistic that I would be able to get enough of them. I thought supplements were a sure thing, but sometimes I get hooked on them and then forget about them. I've taken a few different types in the past, but as my body gets used to them, I forget about them before I know it before it becomes a habit."
Uematsu says that the reason he had tried supplements up until now was because he hoped they would solve his problem of difficulty waking up in the morning.
"I've tried a lot of different nutrients to help me sleep better and deeper, but I believe that if it doesn't taste good, I can't keep taking it. But when I tried Lypo-C Vitamin C, it tasted awful! At first, I watched a video about it, so I drank it directly from the bag. I thought I wouldn't be able to keep it up, but then I noticed that the pamphlet had lots of recipes, so I decided to give it a try."
As a result, Uematsu's best recipe is to dilute it with water and then mix in green mandarin juice.
"But then, it actually tasted really good! It tasted like a sports drink, like my favorite isotonic drinks. You could also add lemon juice or yuzu juice. I now drink it three times a day, morning, noon and night, and it really does recharge my energy. Thanks to it, I can keep working until the evening without even realizing it."
Lypo-C
Your ally in the season when UV rays are a concern
Vitamin C is expected to have effects such as strengthening resistance to stress and colds, but Uematsu was particularly interested in its effect on protection against ultraviolet rays.
"Because I often play outside with my son, I have become sensitive to the strong UV rays of summer. It's not that I dislike getting a sunburn, but I'm afraid that it will increase the causes of age spots and wrinkles. I hope that by continuing to take Lypo-C, I can achieve a clearer complexion even in the harsh summer that is coming."
Uematsu was convinced when a friend who is a therapist explained to him that "inner care promotes skin turnover, so Lypo-C is recommended as aftercare after days of heavy exposure to the sun."
"It's especially good to drink it intensively and frequently in the summer. Sunburn is basically a burn, so it takes a lot of energy to recover. So if you constantly replenish your vitamin C with Lypo-C, you can take care of your inner health and feel at ease. If you have enough vitamin C, you won't get sick as easily, and you'll save money on hospital bills, so it's good value for money (laughs)."
In the second part, which will be released on May 28th, we will ask Uematsu about how he decided to become a chef and his new project.
